The Air Race World Championship will visit Lake Macquarie, Australia towards the exciting end of our first season.

 

On November 19th and 20th 2022, pilots will race cutting-edge, aerobatic planes – capable of speeds in excess of 340 kph – around the stunning Lake Macquarie region. Spectators will be close to the action while being offered unique fan experiences and some of the best local food and beverages in the country.

 

Mark your calendars now for two days of speed and drama as the Air Race World Championship makes its Australian debut!

Air Race and the Lake Macquarie City Council are working together to create a one of a kind event for the region. As soon as the race area is finalised we will provide more information on travel, accommodation and hospitality options as well as ticketing schedules. LOCAL HERO - MATT HALL

Matt Hall - Air Race Pilot
Matt epitomises the core elements of a true Air Race champion and gentleman

Reigning World Champion Matt Hall of Australia will be the pilot for Newcastle-based team Matt Hall Racing.

 

A former Royal Australian Air Force fighter pilot, Hall joined the Red Bull Air Race in 2009, finishing third in his debut season. He was the championship runner-up in 2015, 2016 and 2018, and World Champion in the 2019 final Red Bull series.

 

Matt has accumulated seven wins and 25 podiums, making him the most successful pilot due to compete in Air Race's Elite XR\1 class.
